Wax Play

BDSM wax play

BDSM waxplay safety hints and tips

People have been playing with candle wax for a long time, even as a small kid, you dipped your fingers inside of a puddle of wax letting it harden and pealing it off. I am not sure who thought of pouring it on your body for a erotic time, but boy they were right on. As the heat of the hot wax wakens up every pore of your body, creates a very erotic sensation, very similar as when using hot oil on certain body parts. See the whole body is a sexual being not just certain parts. The sensitivity that wax produces on the skin is unlike anything else and can send a body flying. Once the wax is removed, the skin is ultra stimulated and more sensitive to the slightest touch.

Picking the right wax to use can make the difference in having an awesome BDSM wax play scene time or a trip to the emergency room, I've listed them briefly.

Beeswax, one of the hottest waxes available with melting point of 145, never ever use this wax for playing.

Bayberry, very low melting point temperature about 115, but two factors makes it not the play wax of choice, it’s very expensive (takes about 15 lbs of bayberry to make 1 pound of wax), second reason is it is a extremely hard wax making it drip-less somehow I believe this destroys the whole purpose of dripping wax though.

Soy, is becoming more and more popular being both in-expensive and low melting point of 120, even adding easier clean up. Two drawbacks of this becoming the wax play of choice is many people have an allergy to it, big down fall. If you are just playing between your family, then test out a small area to see if any allergies by either party.  If you'd like to incorporate others into your BDSM wax scene, then its best to avoid soy all together. Second drawback is the clean up, it tends to flake off instead of peel off.

Paraffin, melting point can vary widely the more its refined the lower temp it is, because they are removing the petroleum from it.

Many things are used to alter the melting point either higher or lower, for the most part the more cheap wax is the best as it doesn't have additional additives added to give it a long lasting scent, shinny appearance or color protection. Although that is not always the case, the more paraffin is processed the more pure state it is and this lowers its melting point very low. This is the wax I use in making my candles.

Additives; Many candles have additives they use to make candles burn slower/longer, have a beautiful strong scent, and even resist losing its color to UV rays, can change its melting point from a nice cool temp of 120 all the way up to 250.

Color, for the most part doesn't alter the temp enough to cause concern, other then what type of color is being used. Although make sure that they are not using a pigment, pigment is a fine dust and can clog the wick or worse come out in very hot spurts. Oil based dyes are the best and they actually become part of the wax.

Good candles are the cheep stuff. The very best candles to use are those that are made for BDSM waxplay. Always test it out first by dipping your finger in its puddle and then by dripping it onto your forearm.

BDSM Wax Safety

Make sure you have a thermometer to keep an eye on your heat. A wet towel to cool hot spots and since there is flames, a fire extinguisher.

We do know about wax having a melting point, the heat needed to melt, what most people don’t realize is wax has a flash point. That’s when the heat reaches a certain degree it will spontaneous burst into flames without warning. The lower the melting point the lower the flash point. Melting point of 100 can have a flash point of 290. Never leave your wax unattended.

When pouring on it will puddle and stay hotter longer, and can cause a burn. Wax does splatter so be careful to stay away from the eyes. Avoid areas that has hair, unless you purchased wax that states does not pull out hair. Adjust the temperature by the distance you’re pouring from. The closer you are the hotter the wax will be.

There are several different Techniques including dripping, pouring, and application which way to go may be determined by preference, and the sensations you want to give or receive, or your mood for the day. When using a melting pot, make sure you stir often you want your wax to slightly skim the top.

If you are going to use different types of candles, it is good to have a layer of paraffin on the skin first as a barrier layer. This will diffuse the heat over a larger area. Give time between drops to allow that wax to cool and the bottom to react to the sensations. Placing a wax drop on top of another drop creates a penetrating deep heat and requires a longer cooling period, so take your time. Apply a steady series of drops and spread the drops out around the entire area. Rotate candles around while dripping so they burn evenly. Be creative and have fun by applying various layers of color designs. Let your bottom be your canvas, and you the artist.

Some spots are more sensitive than others, dripping it on are much different feeling then pouring it on. When you pour it on it transforms more heat to smaller area. Clean up is quick and easy if you use a drop cloth or best yet head to your dollar store and pick up cheap shower curtains. Once you’re done roll up your mess and toss it out.

Candle Wax Application

There is so many was to do this, its like asking what’s the best way to bbq ribs.  I'll give some basic tips here though.  First thing you must tend to is the set up.  Have a drop cloth, wet towels, ice cubes, lighter or matches - oh and a willing victim...er volunteer. For candles light your wick and do a spot test first.  All checks out start dripping, make sure you raise your arm well above your subject and slowly work it down till you find that happy comfort zone of enjoyment/torture.  Don't rush as wax play only gets better the more you apply, and apply.  If you have a hankering for more wax, at faster rates, then use jar wax using the crock pot method, see home page for a video on how to set that up.  Once your wax has been tested you can start pouring it on.  This can be very fun, make molds of your favorite parts, paint a design, picture or whatever... don't forget to write "wax play slut", so much can be done, so much fun to be had.

Removing:  Fun is only half way through now, as removing the wax is the second part.  Now you can incorporate another of your favorite to do's here.  You like knife play?   Now's your chance to bring them out.  Slide the knife slightly under the edge of the wax and slowly peel back.  If you prefer something without a blade try a spatula, and you can give a good smack here and there for good measure.  I've seen some flog the wax off, but this will mean that wax might go flying about so be prepared.

Beware: When dripping or pouring wax onto the bottom, candles do lit the wax puddle a bit, don't pour directly from the flame.  You should take extra care not to allow wax to puddle, as that creates a heat barrier and can actually raise the temperature of the wax and can cause a severe burn.  Avoid cracks and crevices, aka love handles belly button, between the arm and body when arm is down.  All those locations can trap the heat and cause a burn.  If you do get some hot spots simply use an ice cube (which is fun to mix hot and cold anyways) or a damp towel to cool the hot spot.  Take care of where you set your candles during play for example on the bed is not a save place.

Once you've removed the wax know that their skin is very sensitive to your touch and anything you do will most likely get a lot of purring and back arching.

Don't forget to roll up that drop cloth and move it out of your way before things get too hot from all that purring.  The most important thing to know about wax play is HAVE FUN!
